My Journey Through Seborrheic Dermatitis and the Birth of Promised Skincare™

My Journey Through Seborrheic Dermatitis and the Birth of Promised Skincare™

From Breakdown to Breakthrough

The Beginning: A Quiet Threat

In the fall of 2019, I was living in Berkeley, California, renting a room in an old Victorian-style home on a short-term lease. The house had charm, but beneath its vintage facade hid a danger I couldn’t see. One of my roommates began pacing the hallways with a mold testing kit, visibly frustrated, insisting that the place was infested with mold and fungus. I remember watching him wave the device around in agitation, but I didn’t understand what he was trying to warn us about.

I brushed off his concern. After all, mold seemed like something you found in neglected basements, not behind freshly painted walls. What I didn’t know was that my bed was pressed against a wall harboring deep moisture damage and hidden fungal growth. In that poorly ventilated space, with old drywall and dark, damp corners, an environment had formed that would change the trajectory of my life.

I rarely changed my pillowcase. I didn’t know then that a mold-contaminated pillow could become an instrument of illness. But slowly, almost imperceptibly, I began to experience changes in my skin—especially my scalp.

The Diagnosis That Changed Everything

It started with flaking. Then itching. Then red, irritated patches began spreading around my scalp, eyebrows, and the sides of my nose. I wore hats to hide it. I avoided mirrors. But the symptoms didn’t go away. They intensified.

Finally, I saw a dermatologist at Washington Hospital in Fremont, California. She took one look at my scalp and said the words I’ll never forget:

"You have seborrheic dermatitis."

I didn’t even know what that was, let alone how to spell it. I asked her what the treatment plan was. Her response cut through me:

"There is no cure."

I walked out of that office feeling like a door had closed in my face. No direction. No hope. Just a vague diagnosis and a few prescriptions that didn’t do much more than mask the symptoms for a few days.

Years of Trial and Error

The next six years were a slow, grinding descent into frustration. I tried everything:

  • Medicated shampoos like Head & Shoulders and Ketoconazole

  • Prescribed topical treatments

  • DIY remedies, from apple cider vinegar rinses to tea tree oil and castor oil

  • Every "natural cure" I could find on forums and skincare blogs

  • I even zapped my scalp with a " high frequency device" my sister Saghar gave me.

Some provided temporary relief. Most didn’t help at all. I even shaved my head multiple times, thinking if I removed the hair, maybe the skin would reset. It never did.

I became obsessed with research, reading clinical papers and joining online communities. That’s when I discovered something that changed everything:

Seborrheic Dermatitis is fungal.

Specifically, it’s caused by Malassezia, a type of yeast that naturally lives on our skin, especially in oily areas. In those with compromised skin barriers or the right (or wrong) environment, this yeast grows uncontrollably, triggering inflammation and persistent symptoms.

There are at least 14 known species of Malassezia; eight live on human skin. Among them, M. furfur, M. globosa, M. restricta, and M. slooffiae are frequently linked to Seborrheic Dermatitis.

Understanding this gave me clarity—but not a solution.

The Turning Point:

Then, one night deep into a skincare thread, I came across a comment. It was simple. Direct.

"Try this two-step process. Thank me later."

That stranger’s recommendation changed my life. I tried it. It worked.

Within days, the itching subsided. Within weeks, the flakes were gone. My skin looked calmer, healthier, and normal again. I had stumbled upon what I now call the ProSkin™ Protocol—a breakthrough system based on nature, science, and lived experience.

The Birth of Promised Skincare™

Once I found relief, I couldn’t keep it to myself. I knew what it felt like to suffer in silence. To look fine to the world, but secretly dread your reflection. To feel like your skin was betraying you.

That’s why I created Promised Skincare™, not just as a product line, but as a mission. I found that my three-step process worked great for my seb-derm and at the core of it is the ProSkin™ Protocol: a dermatologist-informed, community-tested, and personally validated system that supports skin health from the inside out.

Our flagship product, ProSkin™ Tallow Balm, combines:

  • 100% Organic Grass-Fed Halal Beef Tallow

  • Raw Organic Honey

  • Clove Oil

  • Rosemary Extract

  • Plus our secret production process.

It mimics the skin’s natural lipid structure, restoring balance, reducing inflammation, and rebuilding the skin barrier without steroids or synthetic fillers. And it works.

From Me to You

One of my close friends who struggled with eczema, was one of the first people to try it. He saw results fast. Encouraged, he shared it with a friend who only used high-end Korean skincare. Despite her skepticism, she became a believer.

This is bigger than me. It’s about giving people their lives back. It’s about honoring those of us who felt hopeless and invisible, and providing something real. Something that works.

If you’re struggling with chronic skin issues, I see you. I was you. And I created this for you.

Promised Skincare™ was born in a moldy room in Berkeley, forged through frustration, and refined through relentless research. Today, it stands as a beacon for those seeking honest, effective relief.

Welcome to the ProSkin™ Protocol. Let this be your turning point.
